Description

National Instruments PCI-7833R Digital Reconfigurable I/O Device

The PCI-7833R (Part Number: 779359-01) is a PCI based Digital Reconfigurable I/O Device. This device comes with a Virtex-II 3M Gate, a powerful FPGA, 8 analog inputs/outputs, and 96 digital lines. The analog inputs offered by this Digital Reconfigurable I/O Device offer up to 200 KHz sampling rate, while the outputs provide a maximum of 1 MHz update rate. When combining the NI PCI-7833R and the NI-9151 expansion chassis, the result is high-performance yet low cost signal conditioning, direct connectivity, and I/O channel expansion.

The FPGA used in this device comes with 28.672 flip-flops, 96 18×18 multipliers, and 1728 Kbits of embedded block RAM. Little to no coding expertise is required in using the LabVIEW FPGA Module to graphically design the NI 7833R timing and functionality. To operate the PCI 7883, the following software are required: the NI PXI-7833R driver software, LabVIEW 7.1 or later versions, LabVIEW FPGA (Field-Programmable Gate Array) Module 1.1 or later versions, NI-RIO 1.3 or later versions. The LabVIEW Real-Time Module is used to interact with and control the NI 7833R.

The NI PCI 7833R features an enhanced R-2R DAC in its output circuitry. This device has ±10 V range, supports DC output coupling with 1.25 Ω output impedance, and has ±2.5 mA current drive. This Digital Reconfigurable I/O Device has the capability to implement customized control logic, digital communication protocols, and inline signal processing. Moreover, the eight voltage analog output channels on this RIO Device operate under short-circuit to ground protection and have a user configurable power-on state. The 96 digital I/O channels on this device have a programmable, by line power-on state. The digital logic levels are 3.3 V TTL, 5 V TTL compatible.

This Digital Reconfigurable I/O Device comes with three 68-pin female high-density VHDCI I/O connectors. The National Instruments PCI-7833R device draws 727 mA of total current from +3.3 VDC (±5%) supply, while operating normally in a typical environment. This instrument is designed for the PCI bus and can be chosen as a master or a slave device.
