Description

MTL838C supply temperature converter

MTL838C supply temperature converter

The MTL831B analogue transmitter can transfer a number of hazardous area input signals to the safe area down a data highway consisting of a single twisted pair cable. It is intrinsically safe and can therefore be mounted in Zone 0 hazardous areas or Class I, Division 1 hazardous locations. The MTL831B can monitor up to 16 inputs from THC or millivolt sources or up to 15 inputs from 2, 3 or 4-wire RTDs. Two (i.e. dual redundant) data highway outputs are provided that can carry both signal and power over distances up to 3km, depending on the application, the cable and the (noise) environment – see Section 4.4. The highway cables can be simple twisted-wire pairs or pairs of wire within an IS multi-core cable.

At the other end of the data highway, MTL838B-MBF receivers are used to translate the information transmitted from the MTL831B. The MTL838B-MBF provides a Modbus® serial data output representation of the inputs together with status information. When the MTL831B transmitter is mounted in the hazardous area, each data highway must be protected by an MTL3052 digital isolator mounted in the safe area.

The MTL831B can be installed in either safe or hazardous areas (including Zone 0 or Division 1) depending upon the requirements of the application.

Screens of sensor cables should be earthed at the MTL831B. If a sensor cable is earthed at the sensor, then it should not be earthed or connected to other screens at the MTL831B. The screen of a data highway cable between the MTL831B transmitter and MTL3052 isolator is normally connected to an earth rail in the MTL831B‘s field enclosure. The screen of this cable must not be connected at the MTL3052/MTL838B end of the data highway.

The role of DCS system
1. Expanding production scale: Modern enterprises are gradually moving towards large-scale and highly automated development in order to improve market competitiveness, reduce production costs, and improve product quality. In theory, all production processes can be judged and manually controlled by humans, and this control method is often seen on old-fashioned and low-speed production lines. However, even the most skilled operators on modern and high-speed production lines cannot keep up with the pace of fast-running equipment, nor can they meet the requirements of timely control of production process parameters. Moreover, even the most skilled personnel can make mistakes, which may have a catastrophic impact on production equipment. So the more advanced the production line, the more advanced it is to need an advanced automation control system to quickly and accurately adjust important process parameters in production, or respond quickly in emergency events to protect expensive equipment on the production line. This control system is what we call a DCS system.
2. Many new types of pulp and paper making equipment must be used in conjunction with advanced equipment, such as drum crushers, fiber grading screens, multi disc white water recovery devices, steam condensate systems, and QCS systems. These devices have been designed to eliminate manual operation and can only be fully functional through automated control systems.
3. Strengthening the historical data, trends, reports, and alarm information in the production process has immeasurable significance for production management. Traditional manual recording is neither accurate nor timely. Now, the automatic control system completes the collection, organization, and archiving of data, and can directly provide these data to intelligent factories to achieve guidance, analysis, and production management.
4. Improving product quality must be achieved through continuous and stable production lines. The main purpose of an automated control system is to provide stable assurance for process production.
5. Similarly, reducing production costs means that a continuous and stable production line has the lowest production cost. The automation control system effectively avoids resource waste caused by frequent startup and shutdown, while also providing the most reasonable production raw material ratio in production. In addition, the automation control system also saves a lot of repetitive labor and saves human resources.
