Description

The VP 325/02x-U is a PC-compatible high performance, high functionality one-slot VME single board computer. Supporting the 1.6 GHz Intel® Pentium®M processor, the board features up to 2 Gbytes of 333 MHz DDR DRAM and a variety of interfaces including an option for an on-board Hard Disk Drive, CompactFlash™ or Hitachi GST Microdrive™. The VP 325/02x-U is suitable for a range of demanding applications within the industrial control, defense, telecomms, telemetry, scientific and aerospace markets. Its functionality can be further increased through the use of PMC modules. To simplify the board’s integration many popular industry standard operating systems are supported. The VP 325/02x-U is the RoHS compliant version of the VP 325/02x family.

Since the introduction of fieldbus technology in the late 1990s, it has ushered in a new era of automation control technology – the digital age. Fieldbus is a digital, bidirectional communication intelligent control system that integrates fieldbus driven local devices, control systems, and maintenance software with predictive functions to improve the informatization and intelligence level of power plants, ultimately achieving a qualitative improvement in power plant control level, economic efficiency, and competitiveness.

At present, most fieldbus systems have undergone IEC61508 certification, and the communication protocol has passed IEC 1158-2 (1993) and ISAS50.02 1992 standard fieldbus’ Ff-816 31.25 kbits/s certification. The method of ‘proven in use’ has been preliminarily validated in practical applications in power plants. Like the initial application of DCS systems in power plants, the functional safety evaluation of fieldbus systems will gradually be recognized and confirmed in practical use.

Fieldbus technology has brought a revolution to the field of automation, representing the direction of automation development. Digital communication is a trend that no one can stop, and these are all inevitable developments in modern technology. The bidirectional digital communication field bus signal technology itself will undoubtedly bring tangible benefits to the safe and economic operation and improvement of management level of thermal power plants.

Fieldbus is a device that utilizes bus driven I/O cards, high-speed field communication networks, and intelligent field devices, greatly simplifying the installation and debugging of control systems. It is the foundation for achieving digitalization, intelligence, and informatization in power plants. The basic information of on-site equipment obtained through fieldbus is an essential basic information for improving the management level of power plants.

The application research of fieldbus in power plants in China has rapidly developed with the configuration of control systems for newly built 600MW units in thermal power plants, the selection level of automation devices, and the improvement of overall layout and installation requirements for power plants.
