Description

Be aware of the 152 m(500 ft) limit on HDLC cabling from end-to-end when using high-quality twinaxial shielded cable. If longer fieldbus cable runs are needed for a particular installation, FCM2F2, FCM2F4, or FCM2F10 modules installed in a nearby Zone 2 area can be used to extend the fieldbus over 2, 4, or 10 km fiber optic cables. Refer to DIN Rail Mounted FBM Subsystem User’s Guide (B0400FA) for details.

The selection of power modules is very simple, only considering the output current. The rated output current of the power module must be greater than the sum of the consumed currents of the CPU module, I/O module, dedicated module, etc., with a certain margin left. When selecting a power module, the following points should generally be considered:
(1) The input voltage of the power module. The power module can include various input voltages, including 220V AC, 110V AC, and 24V DC. In practical applications, it is necessary to choose according to the specific situation. After determining the input voltage, the output voltage of the system power supply is also determined.
(2) The output power of the power module. When selecting a power module, its rated output power must be greater than the sum of the total consumed power of the CPU module, all I/O modules, and a margin of about 30% must be left. When the same power module needs to power both the host unit and the expansion unit, the line voltage drop from the host unit to the farthest expansion unit must be less than 0.25V.
(3) The power module in the expansion unit. In some systems, due to the installation of intelligent modules and some special modules in the expansion unit, it is required to install corresponding power modules in the expansion unit. At this point, the output power of the corresponding power module can be calculated according to their respective power supply range.
(4) Power module wiring. After selecting the power module, it is also necessary to determine the wiring terminals and connection methods of the power module in order to correctly design the system power supply. The input voltage of a typical power module is connected to the power supply through wiring terminals, while the output signal is connected to the bus of the programmable controller CPU through a bus socket.
(5) Grounding of the system. The grounding wire of the power module should be a copper wire of no less than 10mm2. The wiring to the AC voltage regulator, UPS uninterruptible power supply, isolation transformer, and system grounding should be as short as possible; The ground wire of the system should also be connected to the casing.
(6) Environmental conditions for use. When selecting a PLC, it is important to consider whether the environmental conditions at the site of use comply with its regulations. The general considerations include environmental temperature, relative humidity, allowable fluctuation range of power supply, and anti-interference indicators.
