Description
The WOODWARD 5437-1119 Control Module operational step
Pre-Operational Safety
- Isolate Power
- De-energize turbine/generator systems before wiring. Verify zero voltage at terminals with a multimeter.
- Grounding
- Connect chassis ground lug to earth (≤1Ω resistance). Floating grounds risk EMC interference.
- Environment
- Ensure ambient temperature: -40°C to +85°C (operational), humidity ≤95% non-condensing.
Installation & Wiring
1. Mount module on DIN rail (EN 60715 compliant).
2. Connect control signals:
• Analog Inputs (AI1-4): 4-20mA shielded twisted pairs (max. 500ft/150m)
• Relay Outputs (RO1-2): 5A SPDT dry contacts for trip/shutdown
3. Supply power: 18-36VDC (Terminal 15+/16-), fused at ≤3A.
NOTE: Reverse polarity protection absent; incorrect wiring damages ICs.
Configuration Procedure
- Software Initialization
- Launch Woodward ToolKit (V11.0+) → Connect via RS-232/RS-485 adapter.
- Parameter Loading
- Select device template
5437-1119_GASTURB→ Upload configuration from backup (.cfg file).
- Select device template
- Calibration
- Execute zero/span calibration for AI channels:
textCopy Code
Menu: Diagnostics → Analog Input Cal → Apply 4mA (0%) → Confirm → Apply 20mA (100%) → Confirm
- Execute zero/span calibration for AI channels:
Startup Sequence
1. Energize power supply → Verify "RUN" LED (solid green).
2. Observe relay status:
• RO1 "READY" (Normally Closed) → Closed when no faults
• RO2 "TRIP" (Normally Open) → Open during normal operation
3. Monitor analog outputs via ToolKit: Deviation >±2% requires recalibration.
Critical Fault Handling
| Symptom | Action |
|---|---|
| “FLT” LED (Red) | 1. Check ToolKit event log (e.g., ERR-102: AI1 Overrange)2. Isolate faulty sensor/wiring |
| Relay Chatter | Inspect load current: Exceeding 5A melts contacts |
| Comm Loss | Verify termination resistors (120Ω for RS-485) |
Maintenance
- Monthly: Clean ventilation slots (compressed air ≤30PSI).
- Annually: Re-torque terminal screws (0.8 N·m) and validate calibration.
- Firmware Updates: Use
.wdffiles from Woodward portal; never interrupt power during upload.
