Installation and Removal Procedures for the Scanner Module

Installation Procedure

The steps below outline how to install the scanner module:

Power disconnection is optional, as the scanner supports hot swapping (insertion while powered).
Align the full-sized circuit board with the chassis card guides.
Slide the module into the chassis until the top and bottom latches engage securely.
Connect the PROFIBUS cable.
Enable connector termination as needed.
Route the cable downward and away from the scanner to avoid interference.

Removal Procedure

The following steps describe how to uninstall the scanner module:

Power disconnection is optional, as the scanner supports hot swapping (removal while powered).
Disconnect all cables from the scanner.
Press the release tabs on the top and bottom of the module, then slide the module out of its slot.

Additional Specifications and Configuration

The module features a standard DB9 connector, which can be connected to a PROFIBUS bus terminal. It does not include built-in termination. If termination is required, use a bus terminal with integrated selectable termination.

Configuring the SST-PB3-CLX-RLL in RSLogix 5000

There are two methods to configure the SST-PB3-CLX-RLL in RSLogix 5000:

Generic 1756 Module Type: Supported in all versions of RSLogix 5000.
Add-on Profile (AOP): Supported in RSLogix 5000 version 15 and later.
