Description
Installation Steps for SERVOSTAR TM620
1. Pre-Installation Preparation
1.1 Safety Precautions
- Disconnect all AC/DC power supplies to the control cabinet and drive before starting. Verify zero voltage with a multimeter to prevent electric shock.
- Wear ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) protection gloves when handling the drive to avoid damaging internal components.
- Ensure the installation environment meets the drive’s operating requirements (see Section 1.2).
1.2 Environmental & Tool Requirements
| Requirement Type | Specifications |
|---|---|
| Operating Environment | Temperature: 0°C to +40°C (no condensation); Humidity: 10–90% RH (non-condensing); Altitude: ≤1000m |
| Mounting Space | Minimum 100mm clearance above/below the drive for heat dissipation; Avoid direct sunlight or dust. |
| Tools Needed | Screwdriver set (M3–M5), torque wrench (4–6 N·m), wire stripper, multimeter, cable crimping tool. |
1.3 Component Check
- Inspect the drive (S62000) for physical damage (e.g., dents, loose connectors) during unpacking.
- Verify that accessories are complete: Mounting brackets, terminal screws, user manual, and safety certification labels.
2. Physical Installation
2.1 Mounting the Drive
- Select a flat, rigid surface (e.g., control cabinet backplane) capable of supporting the drive’s weight (approx. 3.2kg).
- Align the drive’s mounting holes with the cabinet’s threaded holes. Secure the drive using M4 screws (torque: 4.5 N·m) to prevent vibration during operation.
- Ensure the drive is installed vertically (upright orientation) to optimize heat dissipation via its integrated heatsink.
2.2 Heat Dissipation Confirmation
- Do not block the drive’s ventilation slots or heatsink fins.
- For high-temperature environments (30°C–40°C), install a cabinet fan or cooling system to maintain ambient temperature within limits.
3. Electrical Wiring
3.1 Power Supply Wiring (AC Input)
- Use copper wires with cross-sectional area 1.5–2.5mm² (rated current ≥10A) for the main power input.
- Connect the AC power supply (3-phase 200–240VAC, 50/60Hz) to the drive’s L1, L2, L3 terminals. Tighten terminal screws to 2.5 N·m.
- Install a circuit breaker (10A, type C) and EMC filter in the power supply line to comply with IEC 61800-3 standards.
- Connect the protective earth (PE) wire (green-yellow) to the drive’s PE terminal (torque: 3 N·m) for electrical safety.
3.2 Motor Wiring
- Identify the servo motor’s U, V, W phase wires and connect them to the drive’s U, V, W output terminals (matching polarities strictly).
- Use shielded twisted-pair cables for motor wiring to reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI). Ground the cable shield at both ends (drive and motor sides).
- Tighten terminal screws to 2.5 N·m; avoid loose connections that may cause overheating or motor vibration.
3.3 Encoder Wiring
- The SERVOSTAR TM620 supports incremental encoders (TTL/HTL) or absolute encoders (EnDat 2.2). Use the manufacturer-provided encoder cable.
- Connect the encoder’s signal wires (A, B, Z, 5V, GND) to the drive’s X5 encoder terminal block according to the wiring diagram in the user manual.
- Ensure 5V power supply (max. 100mA) is correctly connected to avoid encoder damage.
- Secure the cable with cable ties to prevent tension on the connector.
3.4 Control Signal Wiring
- Connect control signals (e.g., enable, direction, speed reference) to the drive’s X1 digital I/O terminal block. Use 0.5–1.0mm² shielded wires.
- Common configurations:
- Drive Enable (ENA): Connect to a normally open contact (closed to activate the drive).
- Speed Reference: Connect an analog signal (0–10V or 4–20mA) to the AI1 terminal.
- Ground the shield of control cables at the drive side only to avoid ground loops.
