Working Principle of PR6423/003-030​

The PR6423/003-030 is an inductive proximity displacement sensor designed for high-precision position detection in industrial applications. Its operational mechanism is based on the electromagnetic induction principle, specifically the variable inductance effect, which enables non-contact and wear-free measurement.​

Core Component Configuration​

The sensor consists of a primary excitation coil, two secondary sensing coils (connected in a differential bridge circuit), and a ferromagnetic target (typically attached to the measured object). The primary coil is energized by a high-frequency alternating current (AC) signal (usually 10–100 kHz) from the internal oscillator circuit.​

Inductive Coupling and Displacement Sensing

When the ferromagnetic target moves relative to the sensor’s coil assembly, the air gap between the target and the coils changes. This variation alters the magnetic flux linkage between the primary and secondary coils, resulting in a proportional change in the inductance of the secondary coils. Due to the differential bridge design, the inductance difference between the two secondary coils is amplified to eliminate common-mode interference (e.g., temperature drift, power supply fluctuations).​

Signal Conversion and Output​

The inductance variation is converted into a measurable electrical signal (voltage or current) via the sensor’s signal conditioning circuit. For the PR6423/003-030, the standard output is a 4–20 mA current signal or a 0–10 V voltage signal, which is linearly correlated with the target’s displacement within the sensor’s measurement range (typically 0–30 mm for the 030 variant).​

Compensation and Stability​

Built-in temperature compensation circuitry minimizes the impact of ambient temperature changes on measurement accuracy. Additionally, the sensor’s sealed design (IP67 rating) ensures resistance to dust, moisture, and vibration, making it suitable for harsh industrial environments such as mechanical manufacturing, power generation, and automotive assembly lines.
