The MVME2700-761 series is built around the PowerPC 750™ 32-bit microprocessor and includes the following key components:

The MVME2700-761 series offers two artwork variants, each compatible with specific transition modules to meet different I/O needs.

4.1 MVME761 Transition Module

The MVME761 transition module provides industry-standard connectors for accessing key I/O functions:

Interfaces & Connectors:
- IEEE 1284 parallel port (industry-standard connector)
- 10BaseT/100BaseT Ethernet port (RJ-45 connector)
- Asynchronous serial ports: 2 DB-9 connectors (configured as EIA-574 DTE)
- Sync/async serial ports: 2 HD-26 connectors (labeled “Serial 3” and “Serial 4” on the front panel)
  - Each port is user-configurable (via Motorola Serial Interface Modules/SIMs) for EIA-232, EIA-530, V.35, or X.21 standards (supports both DCE and DTE modes)
P2 Adapter Requirements:
- A P2 adapter provides interface signals to the MVME761.
- 3-row P2 adapter: Supports 8-bit SCSI.
- 5-row P2 adapter: Supports 16-bit SCSI and PMC I/O.

4.2 MVME712M Transition Module

The MVME712M transition module enables access to legacy and standard I/O functions via industry-standard connectors:

  - Replaces the traditional 3-row P2 adapter.
  - Enables access to additional user-definable I/O pins via the 5-row VME64 extension connector.
