This manual presents general details, pre-operational preparation and installation guidelines, operational procedures, and functional explanations for the MVME133S, MVME133S-001, and MVME133SA-020 MPU VMEmodules.Throughout this manual, the module is generally referred to as the MVME133, unless specific references to individual models are necessary.
Model Designations
The MVME133 is offered in three distinct versions, which are outlined in Table 1-1.

Address 24/Data 32 (A24/D32) VMEbus master (compatible with A24/D16)
(Applicable to MVME133S and MVME133S-001 models)

(Applicable to the MVME133SA-020 model)
MC68020 Microprocessor with 32-bit address and data capabilities
1MB of shared local dynamic RAM (32 bits wide), accessible via the VMEbus
Four 28-pin JEDEC sockets for accommodating ROMs, PROMs, EPROMs, or EEPROMs (arranged in two banks, each 16 bits wide) — supporting a maximum total capacity of 256KB
Three 8-bit programmable timers, configurable for tick and watchdog operations
Time-of-day clock/calendar (real-time clock) powered by the MM58274A chip
Front-panel asynchronous DB25 serial debug port (compliant with RS-232C standards), integrated with the MC68901 MFP
Dual multiprotocol (synchronous/asynchronous) serial ports (utilizing the Z85C30 controller):
– RS-485/RS-422A compatibility (Port A)
– RS-232C compatibility (Port B)
VMEbus system controller functionality, including a level 3 arbiter
Single-level bus requester (with jumper-selectable levels)
VMEbus interrupter component
VMEbus interrupt handler supporting all seven interrupt levels
Front-panel status LEDs for indicating RUN, HALT, and FAIL states
Front-panel RESET and ABORT switches for manual control
Remote reset capability via the edge connector P2
Five-position software-readable header, which is part of the Module Status Register (MSR)
