Troubleshooting Guide for MVME55006E-0163-B VME Controller Module
Critical Precautions
- Static Control
- Use grounded wrist straps and ESD mats during handling.
- Module sensitivity: ±500V HBM (per ANSI/ESD S20.20).
- Power Safety
- Verify input voltage: +5VDC ±5% (3.6A min.) before power-up.
- Disable VMEbus P1/J1 SYSRESET during diagnostics.
Troubleshooting Procedures
1. Boot Failure (No POST)

2. Network Interface Fault (ENET0/1)
a. Check RJ45 LINK LEDs:
- OFF: Replace CAT6 cable; test port with known-good device.
- ON (no data): Execute *ethreg -a 0xFC0 -v 0x01* (force 100FD).
b. Validate IP settings via Debug UART (115200 baud):
> ifconfig en0 192.168.1.10 netmask 255.255.255.0
3. VMEbus Communication Errors
- Error Log:
VME_ERR: A16/D16 timeout- Action 1: Probe A32/D32 signals (P2/J2) with oscilloscope:
- Address Strobe (AS) pulse width must be >60ns.
- Data Transfer Ack (DTACK) delay <200ns.
- Action 2: Reconfigure PCI-X bridge:

Thermal Management
- Overheat Shutdown (>85°C):
① Clean heatsink fins (compressed air, max. 30PSI).
② Apply fresh thermal paste (Bergquist SP400-0.003″).
③ Confirm fan operation: 12VDC, 0.4A (Delta AFB1212LE).
