Installing the Drive

1 Storing the Drive Before Installation

The drive should be kept in its original shipping container until installation. If the equipment will not be used immediately, follow these storage guidelines:

Store in a clean, dry environment.

Maintain the storage temperature and humidity as specified in the “Specifications” section of this manual.

Avoid locations exposed to corrosive atmospheres.

Store in an area free from construction activities to prevent damage.

2 Unpacking the Drive

Remove all packing materials, wedges, and protective braces from and around the unit.

After unpacking, verify the Material Number on the nameplate against both the purchase order and the packing list to ensure consistency.

Locate the model number, serial number, and manufacturing date code—these are affixed to the side of the drive.

3 Handling the MMC Smart Drive

The drive’s casing provides mechanical protection for internal circuitry during shipping and handling. However, like all electronic equipment, the circuitry is susceptible to damage from the following:

Operating or storage conditions exceeding the limits detailed in the “Specifications” section of this manual.

Moisture condensation inside the module.

Static discharge.

Exposure to magnetic fields strong enough to induce current in the circuitry.

Vibration and other physical hazards.

4 Inspecting the Drive Before Installation

Thoroughly inspect the unit for any physical damage incurred during transit (both visible and concealed).

If damage is found: Contact your purchasing department promptly to file a claim with the shipper.

If degraded performance is identified during unit testing: Notify your distributor or Danaher Motion immediately after receiving the equipment.
