Description
- Screwdriver set (Phillips #2, flat-head 6 mm) – matching the MCP-1004’s mounting and terminal fasteners.
- Torque wrench (adjustable range: 1–5 N·m) – for precise tightening of critical connections to avoid component damage.
- Level tool (digital or spirit level, minimum 15 cm length) – to ensure horizontal/vertical alignment of the module.
- Wire stripper (capable of stripping 0.5–2.5 mm² copper wires) – for preparing signal and power cables.
- Electrical insulation tape (rated for 600 V AC/DC) – for securing exposed wire ends and preventing short circuits.
- MCP-1004 user manual – for referencing specific voltage ratings, terminal definitions, and safety guidelines.
- Compatible power cable (24 V DC, 2.5 mm²) and signal cables (twisted-pair, 0.75 mm² for analog/digital signals).
- Mounting brackets (if not included with the module) – designed for 19-inch standard industrial racks.
1.2 Site Readiness- Select an installation location that meets the MCP-1004’s environmental specifications:
- Avoid areas with direct sunlight, excessive dust, or liquid splashes.
- Ensure ambient temperature ranges between -10°C and 50°C (non-condensing), with relative humidity ≤ 85%.
- Maintain a minimum clearance of 10 cm around the module for ventilation (prevents overheating).
- Verify the installation surface (rack or cabinet panel) is flat, sturdy, and can support the module’s weight (≈ 0.6 kg).
- Clear the workspace of debris, tools, or loose cables to reduce installation risks.
- Unpack the MCP-1004 using a utility knife with a retractable blade. Cut along the carton’s seam only – avoid deep cuts to prevent scratching the module’s casing.
- Remove all packaging materials (foam inserts, anti-static bags, cardboard) and retain them temporarily for return or storage (if needed for future maintenance).
- Inspect the MCP-1004’s exterior for physical damage: check for cracks on the front panel, bent pins on terminal blocks, or loose components (e.g., LED indicators).
- Confirm the model number “MCP-1004” and serial number (located on the side label) match the purchase order and delivery note.
- Verify that included accessories are complete: 4 mounting screws (M4 × 10 mm), 1 terminal cover, and 1 quick-start guide. If any parts are missing or damaged, contact the manufacturer immediately.
- Place the MCP-1004 on the pre-selected rack/cabinet panel. Use the level tool to adjust its position until the module is perfectly aligned (horizontal deviation ≤ 0.5°).
- Mark the 4 mounting hole positions on the panel using a pencil – aligning the marks with the module’s built-in mounting holes (spaced 100 mm apart horizontally, 75 mm vertically).
- If using mounting brackets:
- Attach the brackets to the MCP-1004’s side flanges using the provided M4 screws. Tighten with a torque wrench to 2 N·m.
- Align the bracketed module with the marked holes on the rack. Insert expansion screws (M5 × 16 mm) and tighten sequentially to 3 N·m (avoids uneven stress on the casing).
- For direct rack mounting:
- Align the MCP-1004’s mounting holes with the rack’s threaded holes.
- Insert the M4 screws and tighten to 2.5 N·m – do not over-tighten, as this may warp the module’s chassis.
- Critical Safety Step: Ensure the main power supply (24 V DC) is turned off and locked out/tagged out (LOTO) to prevent electrical shock.
- Identify the MCP-1004’s power terminals (labeled “V+” for positive, “V-” for negative, and “PE” for protective earth) – refer to the user manual’s terminal diagram for confirmation.
- Strip 6 mm of insulation from the power cable ends. Insert the “V+” wire into the “V+” terminal, “V-” into “V-”, and PE wire (if used) into “PE”. Tighten the terminal screws to 1.5 N·m.
- Wrap the terminal area with insulation tape to secure the connections and prevent accidental contact with adjacent terminals.
- Identify the MCP-1004’s signal terminals (labeled “AI1–AI4” for analog inputs, “DI1–DI4” for digital inputs, “AO1–AO2” for analog outputs) – confirm terminal functions via the user manual.
- For analog signals (4–20 mA): Use twisted-pair cables to reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI). Strip 5 mm of insulation, insert the positive wire into the “+” terminal and negative into the “-” terminal of the corresponding channel. Tighten screws to 1 N·m.
- For digital signals (on/off): Use single-core or twisted-pair cables. Follow the same stripping and terminal insertion process, ensuring no bare wire is exposed beyond the terminal (prevents short circuits).
- Route power cables and signal cables separately (maintain a minimum distance of 5 cm) – this minimizes cross-interference between power and signal lines.
