Description
- Verify that the GE HYDRAN M2 is compatible with the target equipment (e.g., transformers, bushings) by checking the product specifications and the equipment’s technical requirements.
- Inspect the device for any physical damage, such as cracks on the housing, loose connectors, or damaged cables. Ensure all accessories (e.g., sensors, mounting brackets) are included and in good condition.
- Prepare necessary tools: screwdrivers, cable strippers, torque wrench, and a multimeter. Confirm that the working environment meets the device’s operating conditions (temperature: -30°C to +70°C; humidity: 5% to 95% non-condensing).
- Choose a suitable mounting location on the target equipment, ensuring easy access for wiring and maintenance, and away from direct sunlight, excessive vibration, or sources of electromagnetic interference.
- Use the provided mounting brackets and screws to secure the HYDRAN M2. Tighten the screws to the specified torque (typically 1.5–2.5 N·m) to ensure a stable installation.
- Connect the dissolved gas analysis (DGA) sensor to the “SENSOR IN” port on the HYDRAN M2 using the dedicated cable. Ensure the connector is firmly plugged in and secured with the locking mechanism.
- Connect the power supply cable to the “POWER” terminals, observing the correct polarity (AC or DC as per the device specifications). For AC power, typically 100–240V; for DC power, 24V is common.
- Connect the communication cable (e.g., Ethernet, Modbus) to the corresponding communication port if remote monitoring is required. Follow the wiring diagram in the user manual for proper pin assignments.
- Switch on the power supply. The device’s power LED should illuminate green, indicating successful power-up. If the LED is red or does not light up, check the power connection and voltage level.
- Allow the device to initialize, which may take 2–3 minutes. During initialization, the status LED will blink; it will remain steady green once initialization is complete.
- Press the “MENU” button on the front panel to access the configuration menu. Use the arrow keys to navigate through options such as “Device Settings,” “Measurement Parameters,” and “Communication Setup.”
- Set the device name, measurement interval (e.g., 1 hour, 24 hours), and alarm thresholds for gas concentrations (e.g., hydrogen, methane) based on the application requirements.
- Save the settings by pressing the “OK” button. The device will restart to apply the new configurations.
