Main Functions
It establishes physical communication links between single RE 500 series protection IED and station-level Ethernet network. Supported communication protocols cover IEC 61850, SPA TCP/IP and Modbus TCP/IP. Optional dual-port variants provide simultaneous transmission over SPA bus and LON bus with plastic or glass fiber optical interfaces.
The adapter supports disturbance recorder file uploading via IEC 61850 services, and adopts dedicated Communication Engineering Tool (CET) to complete flexible IEC 61850 data mapping and offline configuration. It converts SPA protocol messages into Ethernet-based protocols, allowing remote access to measurement values, protection alarms, fault records and setting parameters of connected machine protection terminals.
Multiple hardware versions are available with RJ45 copper Ethernet or LC fiber connectors. The module adopts compact vertical structure and connects to target IED via 9-pin D-sub connector without extra wiring cabinets. Built-in status indicator LEDs facilitate on-site commissioning and communication fault diagnosis. It is mainly applied in hydro power plants, thermal power stations and medium voltage distribution substations for modernization transformation of legacy protection systems.
