Description
9905-603 Technical Connection & Checkout Guidelines
- 9905-603 Speed Control Output
Make connections to the DSLC control terminals.
Connect cable shields to ground only at the speed control end.
Connect to either the auxiliary input on speed controls or the load sharing line input on load sharing and speed controls.
- 9905-603 Analog Voltage Regulator Output
Make connections to the DSLC control terminals .
Connect cable shields only at the voltage regulator end.
Optimal performance is achieved when the voltage regulator is equipped with an auxiliary DC voltage input.
- 9905-603 Process Control Input
To prevent ground loop issues and subsequent poor control performance, the process transmitter must have an isolated output.
If the process transmitter is non-isolated, installation of a loop isolator is recommended. Multiple manufacturers supply 20 mA loop isolators; contact Woodward for additional details.
Make connections from the process transmitter to the DSLC control terminals .
For 4–20 mA transmitters: Install a jumper across terminals 37 and 38.
For 1–5 Vdc transmitters: Do not install the jumper.
Connect cable shields to ground only at the DSLC control end.
- 9905-603 Remote Load Setting Input
To prevent ground loop issues and subsequent poor control performance, the remote load setting transmitter must have an isolated output.
If the transmitter is non-isolated, installation of a loop isolator is recommended. Multiple manufacturers supply 20 mA loop isolators; contact Woodward for additional details.
Make connections from the load setting transmitter to the DSLC control terminals.
For 4–20 mA transmitters: Install a jumper across terminals 34 and 35.
For 1–5 Vdc transmitters: Do not install the jumper.
Connect cable shields only at the DSLC control end.
- 9905-603 Installation Checkout Procedure
After completing the installation as specified in this chapter, perform the following checkout steps before proceeding to calibration and adjustments in the next chapter:
Verify wiring correctness against the wiring diagram.
Inspect for damaged terminals and loose terminal screws.
Check for shield faults by measuring the resistance between control terminals and the chassis:
If resistance is less than infinite, disconnect terminals one at a time until infinite resistance is detected.
Inspect the last disconnected line to locate the fault.
