Product Overview
The 8922-RB-IS is a Railbus Isolator manufactured by Eaton MTL (formerly Measurement Technology Limited) and is part of the PAC8000 modular I/O system, now also distributed by Emerson. This specialty module is specifically designed to provide galvanic isolation between the 2/2 (general purpose) and 2/1 (Intrinsically Safe/IS) sections of the Railbus communication system. It is required in all nodes containing IS field wiring to prevent fault voltages from invading the IS section and protect IS field wiring modules from damage. The isolator mounts on its own carrier and is placed immediately before the first 2/1 carrier, typically followed by an 8920-PS-DC IS module power supply that provides power for the 2/1 I/O modules.
